This has been achieved by a distinctive silhouette that combines the strengths of a passenger car and an SUV, with ample ground clearance, and tough, rugged styling. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u30fb While maintaining a spacious and comfortable passenger\ncompartment, the basic proportions convey a dynamic, reassuring body shape, and\nbigger tires and muscular fenders highlight a strong footing that grips the\nroad with All-Wheel drive (AWD). Meticulously crafted, expressive body panels\naccentuate the sense of quality and class to be expected from a flagship model.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u30fb Protective panels cover lower\nbody parts to not only\nprotect the vehicle when driving off-road, but also to enhance Outback\u2019s active\nand rugged image. Its superior ground clearance further enhance the Outback\u2019s\ncharacteristic styling. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u30fb At the front end, the\nbumper-integrated hexagonal grill and hawk-eye headlights maintain the\nresemblance to other members of the Subaru family, while the three-dimensional\nshape of the nose links through to the rest of the body for a more dynamic\nlook. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u30fb The rear combination lights share the motif of the headlights, projecting a sharp, energetic image, front and back. Visibility, cabin space, and world-class safety have been efficiently packaged with strong, sporty styling and a bright, spacious feel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u30fb Basic specifications have been enhanced without\naffecting the vehicle\u2019s maneuverability, including refinements to streamline\ndoor structure, slimmer door sashes, and a reengineered roof frame to secure\nample space. Seating width and shoulder, elbow, and rear leg room in particular\nhave been increased for greater safety and a more comfortable cabin. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u30fb The A-pillar has been moved forward to expand the\ncabin area. In addition, front quarter windows were added with door-mounted\nside mirrors to reduce the front blind spot created by the side mirrors and\nincrease forward visibility. All this has further enhanced safety and made the\ncabin feel more open. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u30fb An electrically powered rear\ngate*<sup>4<\/sup> enables automated opening and closing. It can also be set to\nopen to a specific height and also features a reverse function. Ample ground clearance is teamed with even higher levels of steering stability, achieving higher-quality ride and comfort. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u30fb Body Roll is further suppressed by increased rigidity\nof body and suspension mounting positions with new Outback-specific alignment\nsettings to lower the center of gravity, achieving higher ride quality without\nsacrificing suspension smoothness. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u30fb Reduced suspension operating friction and improved\nefficiency is created through a basic layout that enhances stabilizer\nefficiency, combined with optimization of the front struts and rear shock\nabsorbers, which takes steering stability and a premium ride quality. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u30fb The body frame shape has been completely redesigned to\nimprove the dynamic rigidity of the rear suspension and its mounting positions\non the chassis, thus enhancing ride quality and reducing vibration in the floor\nand seats. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u30fb The steering gear ratio has been modified from 16.5:1\nto 14.0:1 for a more direct and agile feel. As well as a small, lightweight, high-powered\ncontrol unit built into the electric power steering, the steering system has\nincreased motor output and improved motor controls to achieve an accurate and\nnatural steering feel. This system also helps to reduce fuel consumption. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u30fb Active Torque Vectoring achieves superior turning\nperformance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u30fb Building the electronic parking brake into the rear\ncaliper has made the system quieter and more responsive. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u30fb As well as enhancements to\nthe external look of the vehicle, a 3.2% reduction in wind resistance has been\nachieved, in particular, by improving airflow over the rear of the body. Significant changes especially to intake, exhaust, and combustion systems have improved fuel economy. In addition, it complies with Euro 6 exhaust gas regulations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u30fb While retaining the previous model\u2019s structure of the\nintake manifold and tumbler generation valve (TGV), TGV position and intake\nport shape have been simplified to balance volumetric efficiency at higher revs\nwith efficient combustion at lower revs, improving both power and fuel economy.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u30fb The intake sound has been tuned to produce a pleasant\nengine tone. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>2.0-litre, DOHC,\nHorizontally-Opposed, 4-cylinder, diesel turbo engine &#8211; <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Subaru has honed the\nperformance of \u201cSUBARU BOXER DIESEL\u201d \u2013 the world\u2019s first engine of its kind for\nmass-production passenger vehicle. In addition to supplying ample torque,\ncharacteristics of diesel engines, this\nmodel complies with Euro 6 exhaust gas regulations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u30fb Modification points such as\nthe new generation fuel injection system enable enhanced environmental\nfriendliness. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&lt; Transmission &gt; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Lineartronic\n&#8211; <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>To complement the\nsmooth shifting that Lineartronic transmissions are known for, new step shift control\nand six-speed manual-mode paddle shifting achieve nimble performance that\nalways stays true to driver intentions.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u30fb Transmission friction has\nbeen reduced for improved fuel efficiency, and new dynamic dampers provide a\nquieter ride by quelling vibration noise. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>High-torque-compatible\nLineartronic &#8211; <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Teamed\nwith the \u201cSUBARU BOXER DIESEL\u201d, the high-torque-compatible Lineartronic\ntransmission achieves advanced levels of power and\nenvironmental friendliness. Torque converter, oil pump, and forward-reverse mechanism have all been\nredesigned, while new step shift control and seven-speed manual-mode paddle shifting improve drivability\nand ensure a quieter ride. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>6-speed\nmanual transmission &#8211; <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>As\nfor the 6-speed manual transmission employed for the \u201cSUBARU BOXER DIESEL\u201d,\ngear ratios in the first and second gear have been tuned to achieve\nboth environmental friendliness and drivability. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u25a0 Safety <\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Building on a strong body structure, both active and passive safety features traditionally found on the Outback have been refined for improved omnidirectional safety performance. Additions include the EyeSight that dramatically improves preventative safety and reduces driver stress. These enhanced safety features achieved the highest five-star overall rating in the 2014 European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP)<\/strong><sup><strong>*5<\/strong><\/sup><strong> safety performance test. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>*5: An independent agency composed of European\ngovernments and European motoring and consumer organizations <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&lt; Preventative Safety &gt; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><br>\u25a0  EyeSight*<sup>6<\/sup> <\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The EyeSight was the first system ever to use only stereo camera technology to detect the presence of even pedestrians and cyclists. The system\u2019s features include Pre-Collision Braking Control and Adaptive Cruise Control. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[Pre-Collision Braking Control] <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>The\nrelative speed \u201capproximately 50km\/h\u201d at which automatic braking is possible to\navoid a collision between the vehicle and an object or reduce damage has been\nachieved. <\/li><li>Due\nto the wide visible range, stereo cameras can detect pedestrians crossing a\nstreet and pre-collision braking is applied at an earlier stage, achieving\nsuperior performance of pedestrian protection. <\/li><li>Pre-Collision\nBraking Assist function operates at the speed between approximately 10km\/h\n(7MPH) and 200km\/h (125MPH). <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\u30fb &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[Adaptive Cruise Control] <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>The\nstereo cameras can respond to acceleration and deceleration by the vehicle\nahead quickly, as well as superior performance in terms of tracking merging\nvehicles ahead and corners. <\/li><li>With\ncolor recognition for the stereo cameras, EyeSight can detect brake lights of\nthe vehicle ahead and link it to Adaptive Cruise Control, allowing even faster\ndeceleration when following vehicles. <\/li><li>Active\nCruise Control operates at the speed between approximately 0 and 180km\/h\n(110MPH). <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>*6: Manufacturer-installed option <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&lt; Active Safety &gt; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u30fb With Symmetrical AWD as a\nbase, the body rigidity was improved while chassis performance was enhanced\nalong with VDC.
